FAQ

  • What is a doula?

The word “doula” comes from a Greek word that means “maidservant”. As a doula, we are there to serve and support you! A doula offers emotional support, physical coaching, and informational support/advocacy. Basically, an educated big sister for birth!

  • Why hire a doula?

Research shows that women who hire doulas are more satisfied with their birth, require less pharmaceutical intervention, and are less likely to have a cesarean section. The 1-1 care makes a difference with outcomes and intervention rates!

  • What happens if I am unable to attend your birth?

In the unlikely event that I would be unable to attend your birth (due to illness, etc.) a backup would be provided! I am blessed to have connections with many wonderful doulas in the area who can step in when needed!

  • What Certifications do I hold?

I got my birth and postpartum certification through Hearthmother Journey (a year long course)

I am taking Body Ready Method Certification fall of 2025

I am devoted to learning and continuing education!

  • What does a postpartum doula do?

Physical, informational, and emotional support! A postpartum doula can support you in making that season of transition as smooth as possible. It looks different for every family, and your doula can work with you to see what is best in your situation.

  • When should you hire a doula?

It is never too early, or too late to hire a doula! When you find the one that is right for you, go ahead and sign! I have had clients hire me very early on in pregnancy, and up until 38 weeks!

There to empower you in your childbearing year.
